James Rua  Ngāti Whātua / Ngāi Tahu

Director of Storytelling & Social Solutionist

After years in the TV shows and feature film making business James Rua is a proud founding partner and Creative Director at The Hood & Co.

 

A cinematographer by trade, he is the glue that keeps The Hood together and has helped shape the company as it is today with a mixture of creative flair, organisation, business strategy and team management.

 

When not happily creating, he can be found upskilling over a Masterclass, at the gym or enjoying a beer at the Gypsy Tearoom.

Caren Freeman

Conversation Architect & Director of First Impressions

Caren joined our team in early 2019 after 5 years spent in London working for advertising giant BBH.

 

She has a background in production and at The Hood, she is in charge of new business, client strategy and heads projects as our resident Producer. With her people skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs, she ensures the timely and successful delivery of our projects.

 

If she isn’t working, Caren enjoys hanging out with her ragdoll cat Missy, binges on crime documentaries and loves a good sunset.

Felicia Brunsting

'Chief Of Other' stuff no one wants to take care of & Workflow Guru

Felicia has a background in Marketing and Communication but has spent most of her career on the production side of commercial content creation.

 

As one of the founders of The Hood, she is passionate about seeing others succeed. With her methodical approach to problem-solving, she oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions and is our resident librarian – helping the team research and gather key business and user insights based on the client’s objectives.

 

She’s an avid sewist in her time off and can often be found browsing op-shops looking for that next craft project.

Grace Sibun  Whakatōhea

Herder of Helpless People & Vibe Manager

Grace is our resident Production Assistant and manages the Vibes in the office. She joined The Hood & Co in May 2021 and her dream is to one day create a reality TV series and we're all here for it!

 

Both Felicia and James have taken Grace under their wings and with their guidance she is involved in all parts of the production processes, research and development of creative as well as the day-to-day tasks in the office. 
 

Grace's kindness and generosity makes her a true gem to work with. Whether it's offering to help or simply brightening up someone's day through thoughtful gestures and kind works, Grace goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels appreciated and valued.
